Jill Huang is another faithful regular, and I liked her questions about Beijing. Jill, I’d love to find that old vegetarian restaurant I last visited almost 30 years ago, where everything is made to look like meat. My first visit, if I returned, would have to be to The Forbidden City, at dawn on an autumn morning, before it is opened to the public. I don’t have any close friends in Beijing, but I have a dear old friend, Professor Rao Dujun, in Xi’an. He was fantastically supportive of me when I first arrived there and has remained a wonderful friend – even if we don’t have much contact nowadays.
I just went online to see whether Soyoung has blogged yet – she hasn’t, so I’ve myiq got a bit of time on my hands. I checked the readers’ comments, as usual, and I thought it was about time I spoke direct to some of you. I should have done this earlier, especially to people like Hyoshil and Paulraj and Farida and lots more of you who have posted comments so regularly. The first was from Monica in Brazil.
And Trump is running to be president of the Idiocracy. Even if he loses Iowa, even he loses the nomination, he’s won the contest for the heart and soul of the angry Right and has divided his country in two to do it. In American mythology, it’s the guy who rides into town with the promise that he can cure all ills with an ointment that only requires a little faith to work and 12 instalments of $19.99. The sad fact is that snake oil only sells if there’s a market for it. That implies that a significant number of consumers are suckers. “An extremely credible source has called my office and told me that Barack Obama’s birth certificate is a fraud.”
The damage was to the left bumper and lights. There was no intrusion into the engine bay and no airbag deployment. The damage for hitting a deer at 60 was minimal. I have no doubt the snub nose and short bonnet pushed the deer away as it made contact. My Iq is repaired and I feel safer now knowing at 60mph, the equivalent tonnage of contact with a deer is est at five tons.- not only did my car suffer minimal damage, I was completely safe. Bigger cars have fared worse in deer collisions. This is my second iq, my first was in 2009.
Some hills have to be taken in first gear; in these conditions, there is sometimes growling from the engine and much vibration which doesn’t make for a smooth drive. It’s also a bit weird on the motorway, faced with a long slow hill, to have to change gear when doing 70mph. Otherwise it’s get into the inside lane and crawl along. But the biggest put-off (apart from performance on hills) is the centre console. It needs to be covered with something which won’t slide off (if you’re able to stitch thin leather to fit over it, that would work very well).
